Meet Our Board

Monterey One Water (M1W) is a public utility serving cities and districts in northern Monterey County—learn more on our Service Area page. We are governed through a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) which was formed in February 1979. Each of our 11 member entities appoints one representative to the M1W Board to represent the residential and business members in their city or district.

Each entity notifies the Agency in writing of the appointment of its representative (and alternate, if desired) and of any change in representation. The representatives serve solely at the pleasure of the governing body of the appointing member entity. Note: No set term is designated by M1W.

Current membership on the M1W Board includes elected officials from eight cities/districts, a representative from the Monterey County Board of Supervisors, one member (non-elected) who is appointed by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors to represent the Boronda County Sanitation District, and an ex-officio representative from the U.S. Army.
